A group of instrumental players from De Bohun’s years 4, 5 and 6 attended a wonderful concert for schools at Wigmore Hall last week entitled ‘Beethoven and the Science of Sound’. The children listened to a selection of string quartet pieces, including music by Beethoven (still catching audiences out even 200 years after his death!!), performed by The Heath Quartet and also found out more about stringed instruments, metronomes and the way Beethoven continued to compose long after he became deaf.Read More
Our Junior Choir gave lovely performances of ‘The Huron Carol’ and John Rutter’s ‘Star Carol’ as part of Southgate School’s Winter Concert last week. Back on the programme by invitation, our singers also joined with a massed choir of all year groups to take part in the final item ‘Happy Xmas’.
The overall concert was amazing, such a wonderful and inspiring event for our young musicians to be part of. It was an evening full of varied and high quality music making, both instrumental and vocal, with over 200 performers taking part!
Finally, a big thank you to parents of children in junior choir for bringing along our singers on the night and for supporting the concert – we hope you enjoyed it!
Children studying piano and keyboard with our visiting EMS teacher, Mr Watson, presented a lovely concert for their parents last week. As well as solos from all performers, which were excellent, Mr Watson had spent time with the children preparing a group performance of ‘Heart and Soul’ using piano and the three keyboards. Fantastic work children, well done to you all, and a big thank you to Mr Watson! It was wonderful to hear our new musical equipment in use.
De Bohun’s Year 2 pupils were also able to attend the concert and we are excited to report that many children came away from the performance keen to take up a musical instrument!Read More
