Poetry Competition for Key Stage 2 pupils

Following on from National Poetry Day earlier this month we are encouraging pupils in junior classes to submit entries to a poetry writing competition being run locally by Barnet Borough Arts Council.
Competitions like this are a great opportunity to experiment and set yourself challenges in your writing.  Winning and commended poems will be published in a prize-winners’ anthology, plus 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes will be awarded!  Please do discuss this opportunity with your child and encourage them to participate.
Junior poets should be aged 7 – 11 on 14th November 2019 and may illustrate their poems.  Poets are free to choose their own subject matter.  Entries should be written or typed on one side of A4 paper and must not exceed 35 lines.
Entry forms will be made available to all junior pupils.  Entrants must return completed forms to Miss Conway with their poem/s by Wednesday 6th November to allow us sufficient time to submit them to the competition organisers by the closing date.  The entry fee per poem is £1 which should be settled via Parent Pay.
